15 Years of Growth, Success & Industry Impact
Overland Park, Kansas – After opening its doors on March 5, 1999, MedTrak Services is celebrating 15 years of growth, success and the large impact it’s made on the PBM industry.
Growth – With nearly 100 employees, MedTrak has come a long way from the 3 person team that initially started the company in 1999. Founded by Kermit Fendler and Larkin O’Keefe, MedTrak began by providing prescription benefits to local area businesses and has grown to become one of the top 25 PBMs in the country. Today, MedTrak provides prescription benefits to over 500 large and medium size employers throughout the United States and has been honored by Ingram’s Magazine as one of the Top 100 Fastest-Growing Companies in Kansas City for the past 6 years.
Recently MedTrak expanded its business model to include Tria Health, a wholly owned subsidiary of MedTrak, to provide Medication Therapy Management services, and Hospice Rx, a division of MedTrak, to provide PBM services to the hospice industry.
Success – MedTrak’s successes can be attributed to the customized and innovative solutions it offers and the commitment and dedication of its employees to provide a high level of service to their clients and Members unmatched by any other PBM in the industry. Founded on the promise to develop and maintain a partnership of trust with their clients, agents and vendors, MedTrak’s values and goals are still at the core of the business today. This is what has led MedTrak to win numerous local awards including Top 100 Privately Held Companies by Ingram’s Magazine for the past 3 years, 2013 Top 150 Private Companies by the Kansas City Business Journal, 2012 Best Companies to Work For by Ingram’s Magazine and 2012 Small Business Award by Ingram’s Magazine.
Industry Impact – MedTrak has made a noticeable impact on the PBM industry and has raised the bar for customer service in the health care industry. MedTrak’s most distinguishing factor is their ability to provide quality services with a personal touch. In their annual Member survey, MedTrak was given an overall satisfaction rating of 98%, compared to a health insurance industry average of only 73*.
“I am proud of how far our company has come in the past 15 years and am thankful for the hard work and dedication provided by our employees and our executive team. Any successful business owner knows that the key to success is planning and looking ahead, and we are doing just that. We are positioning MedTrak for success as the industry evolves, and we plan on being in an even better place 15 years down the road,” said Larkin O’Keefe, CEO of MedTrak Services.

MedTrak Will Host Collection Site for National Drug Take-Back Day
Overland Park, Kansas – Do you have a cabinet full of unused and expired prescription drugs? MedTrak Services will host a collection site for National Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, October 26, 2013 from 10am to 2pm. Holding on to unused medications and improperly disposing them can be harmful to your health and our environment. For example, simply flushing pills down the toilet or throwing them in the trash can cause medicinal compounds to pollute our lakes and streams causing negative environmental impacts. National Drug Take-Back Day is a DEA initiative that provides a safe way for patients to dispose of their unused, expired or unneeded prescriptions and over-the-counter drugs. Officers from the Overland Park Police Department will be onsite to assist in the Drug Take-Back Day.
The event is open to all consumers who would like to safely get rid of their unused medications. MedTrak’s collection site will be located at the corner of Metcalf Avenue and College Boulevard at 7101 College Blvd., Overland Park, KS 66210.
National Drug Take-Back Day helps prevent the misuse and abuse of prescription drugs, including prescription controlled substances. Since 2010 the initiative has collected 2.8 million pounds of unused medications, showing the need for a safe and legal way to dispose of prescription drugs.

MedTrak Receives 2012 Small Business Award By Ingram’s Magazine
Overland Park, Kansas – MedTrak Services recently received the 2012 Small Business Award from Ingram’s Magazine. MedTrak, currently 88 employees strong and generating 2011 revenues over $230 million, had more than numbers to show. Establishing performance driven goals, providing generous bonuses based on performance and hiring workers who think outside of the box all differentiate MedTrak from hundreds of other Kansas City small businesses.
“When I look at our company, we’re very goal-oriented. Every year, we establish goals and every quarter we look at our goals to make sure we’re meeting them and if we’re not, we try to evaluate why and figure out a way to make that happen,” said Larkin O’Keefe, CEO of MedTrak.
As the CEO of a small business, O’Keefe also realizes the importance of delegating tasks so he can focus on the bigger picture: growing the company. “Just ask yourself: Is this going to help our company be more successful and grow? And if it’s not, you need to delegate it.”
